Open, visibly enlarged pores are one of the most common complaints in humid climates — and Pakistan's weather doesn't help. Here's what's actually going on, and what genuinely helps.
Why pores appear "open"
Pore size is largely genetic — you can't permanently shrink a pore. What makes pores look more open is what's inside them: a buildup of oil, dead skin, and debris stretches the pore wall, making it appear larger. Reduce that buildup, and pores visibly appear smaller, even though their actual size hasn't changed.
What makes open pores worse
- Excess oil production (common in humid climates)
- Infrequent or harsh cleansing that either leaves buildup or strips skin, triggering more oil production
- Sun damage, which reduces skin elasticity around the pore
A natural routine for minimizing the look of open pores
- Consistent gentle cleansing — daily massage-cleansing removes the buildup that stretches pores, without over-stripping skin.
- Regular exfoliation — a natural powder-based scrub helps clear the debris sitting inside pores, which is the main driver of their visible size.
- Balanced hydration — counterintuitively, well-hydrated skin often looks less oily and has less visibly enlarged pores than dehydrated skin, which overproduces oil to compensate.
What doesn't help
Harsh astringents that aggressively strip oil often backfire — skin overcorrects by producing even more oil, worsening the exact problem you're trying to fix.
The 3-step Organic Skin Kit routine — cleanse, exfoliate, brighten — is built around this cycle of gentle, consistent pore care.
